Cartoonist Simon Moreton sent me three issues of his Smoo Comics! These arrived in my PO Box the day before the ice storm hit the Midwest this week. The timing couldn’t haven’t been better, It was a real comfort to have these to read while stuck in the house.

Simon is a busy guy. Recently he’s been added to the roster of Retrofit artists with his book coming out this year. And today he sent out a call for submissions for his site Better, Drawn.

Creative ideas, where do they come from? I’m not always sure!

In an effort to better understand my own creative process I’ve kept a journal record of my ideas for my comics. Everyday for the last thirty days I’ve made a quick entry detailing how I came up with the idea for that day’s comic.

I was hoping this exercise would give me some insight into my own creative process and some how make me a better writer. But thirty days into this experiment I’m not sure it’s working at all.

Anyway, I’ll probably keep at it a little longer.
