I grew up reading Mad Magazine and spent a lot of time admiring Mort Drucker’s work. So this video pretty much blew my mind.
I always had a hard time drawing hands. Still do in fact. So hearing Mort say drawing hands is hard was huge for me.
I’ve been trying to draw Kurt Vonnegut but its just not working
Sometimes my hand doesn’t do what it’s supposed to.

Abraham Lincoln drawn from memory today. Anyone who attempts to draw Lincoln from memory is bound to have a moment when they say ‘Shit, I’m not sure exactly where the mole goes on his face.’ I opted out of drawing the hat, I’m not so sure I could have pulled it off. For some reason I had a clear idea of what his hair looked like. As for his face, it looks like Mickey Rourke or something. Actually Mickey Rourke playing Honest Abe would be pretty awesome. Never the less I screwed up the eyes. They aren’t heavy or sad enough for Lincoln.

This is my attempt at drawing Nick Cave. I screwed up his eyes…along with the rest of his face I suppose. The Believer Magazine has an interview with Mr. Cave which got me thinking about him this afternoon.
This is my attempt at drawing a Astronaut from memory. I apparently remember NASA using sweat suits and motorcycle helmets for spacesuits.
