Last Friday after getting the Tumblr/Spoon email, I went a bit over board and started emailing artists and their labels asking permission to post their songs to my tumblr.

Well I actually forgot about that until I recieved my first response this afternoon. AA Bondy’s people got back with me and gave me the ok to post two tracks. So I’m encouraged that I can post songs and not get threatened by artists to have my tumblr shutdown. At least with AA Bondy. One artist down, a million to go.

I’m going back to blogging without any particular rules or constraints. Here are a few things I’ve learned as a result of this experiment:

• Some folks will unfollow your ass if you announce you are  going post only original content.  I lost well over a dozen followers within 48 hours of announcing my Sept. blogging experiment. If they didn’t like what I was going to post why not just ignore it? I don’t get it.
• Googledocs is the new Moleskin. With my iPod touch and laptop I really don’t have a use for actual notebooks and I kind of like that.
• Writing, drawing, and creating every day doesn’t necessarily yield fodder for my blog. Ninety percent of the time whatever I would create, I didn’t feel like sharing with others. As a result I blogged much less than I anticipated.
• Not being a filmmaker or musician I’ve never had a use for Garageband or iMovie and I had a lot of fun learning how to use both programs. Now that I know a little about these programs I should be able to turn out future pieces faster.

• Other folks like my content. When I lost a ton of followers that first week, I thought Tumblr wasn’t the place for this sort of thing. But then people eventually made their way to my blog and started to follow me. Thanks to all of you who have followed me this last month, your interest has really been encouraging.
